Ven. Sarah

Venerable Sarah Thresher (Tenzin Yiwong) was born in London, England in 1960. She graduated from University in 1982 and shortly afterwards met her Root Guru Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche. Since then she has studied with many great masters and was ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1986.

After working as an editor for Wisdom Publications for nine years, she began teaching in 1992 and has taught in countries around the world. She now travels and teaches full time.

Ven. Sarah has also worked with Rinpoche to help lead practices according to his instructions at several major retreats, including the Mitrugpa Retreat in the US, the Mahamudra Retreat in Australia and the Lama Tsongkhapa Guru Yoga Retreat in Italy. She is particularly interested in trying to preserve and spread the special flavor of Rinpoche’s way of leading pujas and practices.

Jon Landaw

Jon Landaw, author of Buddhism for Dummies, was born in New Jersey in 1944. From 1972 to 1977 Jon worked as an English editor for the Translation Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India, producing numerous texts under the guidance of Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey. As a student of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche since 1973, Jon has edited numerous works for Wisdom Publications, including Wisdom Energy and Introduction to Tantra. He is also the author of Prince Siddhartha, a biography of Buddha for children, and Images of Enlightenment, published by Snow Lion in 1993. As an instructor of Buddhist meditation, he has taught in numerous Dharma centers throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and elsewhere. He currently lives in Capitola, California, USA with his wife and three children, and leads the Discovering Buddhism courses at Land of Medicine Buddha.

Ven. Chantal Carrerot (Tenzin Dekyi) has been a Buddhist nun since she received ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 1986. In addition she took the full ordination of a Buddhist nun (bhikshuni) in 1992, in a Vietnamese temple in France. She was born in 1954 in the South of France. She has a Masters’ degree in Psychology from the University of Toulouse and began her studies of Buddhism there, at Nalanda Monastery.  From 1985 to 1993 she studied at Nalanda Monastery with SeraJe Khensur Jampa Tegchok, From 1994 to 1999, she lived in India, both on retreat and to pursue her studies. From 1996, she held various positions in the FPMT. She was the SPC and teacher at Tushita Meditation Center in New Delhi for 2 years.  She has been the director of the International Mahayana Institute, the umbrella organization for all FPMT sangha, for 6 years. She traveled and taught in various places including North America, France, South Africa and Spain. She was the resident teacher at the Shedrub Ling Center in Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia) from 2004 until 2008.
