Frequently asked questions

Q: Where are the recordings?  I can’t find any recordings to download!

A: There are several locations: Click on any of the following tabs above: Beginners, Geshe Konchog, Guest Teachers, and the Members area.  On those pages, you will find links to lectures, or to categories of lectures.  The links to download files are usually blue in color and underlined like this.

A: Follow the instructions below, entitled “Easy Download Method”. Although we have tried to make this website as simple and user-friendly as possible, downloading audio recordings does require intermediate-level computer skills.  You may want to ask a friend to help you go through the instructions.

Easy Download Method

Step 1: Browse through the site and find a class that interests you.

Step 2: Notice that the name of the class is blue and underlined, Like this. That is a link to an audio file.

Step 3: Place your mouse over the blue text.  The underline will dissapear.

Step 4: What happens next depends on how your computer is set up.  Either of these things might occur:

  • The class recording just starts to play: Just listen and enjoy!  Note: It may take a moment for the class to start, especially if you have a slow internet connection.
  • The class recording does not play, and a box appears that asks you to save the file:  On some computers, the recording will not play automatically.  Instead, you will be prompted to save the file to your hard-drive first.
    • When you click on the class name, a box will appear that says something like: “Do you want to save this file?” and you will have the option to “Save” or “Cancel”.
    • Click Save.  You will see another window open and you must select where on your hard-drive you want this file to live.  If you don’t know where, just click “Desktop”.  Then, click “Save”.
    • It may take a while for the file to download.  When it is finished, you will see a button that says “Open”.  Click that, and the recording will start to play!
